Rearend Question

Ok I have a 92 GMC Sierra 1500 two wheel drive. It has the usual one wheeler peeler. So my question is if I get a rearend out of a 92 GMC 1500 4x4 can I just pull out the splines on that and put mine in. The reason for that would be the whole six lug and five lug thing. Well any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

just buy yourself a lock-rite and be done with it....

but yes as long as you get a 10 bolt rear diff the axle shafts should be the same...but it has to have the same spline count, some of the 6 lug shafts had different spline counts from the 5 lug ones.
