Towing With An 08 Equinox...transmission Cooler Recommended?

Hello!

I've a 08 Equinox LT with the 3.4 and the AWD system. The truck did not come with a towing package, but from my research I've found that that pretty much equates to a hitch and some wire.

Recently I bought a class 3 Hidden Hitch receiver and the accompanying wiring kit.

More recently I bought a Monterey 180FS bowrider which falls just under the 3500 limit when gassed up and trailered (and full of skis and boards and the occasional six pack).

Now, I had the boat dealer order me a trailer with disk brakes (surge) to help slow that baby down, but I'm wondering if it would also be a good idea to order a transmission cooler.

Like I said, I'm under the weight limit, but we bought this Equinox new and I'd like to still be driving it at 150K. ;-)

Any advice you folks could give me would be very appreciated.

A trans cooler is always a good idea.

You would probably be fine without it, but a little added insurance is never a bad thing.

Does anyone know if GM makes a specific tranny cooler, or should I just go with the Hidden Hitch model that etrailer sells?

you have one from factory and works ,but get a universal external cooler and have it installed in series( from the rad out to the external ) .

you can find out the flow from the tranny by asking a GM tranny guy who has the blue book for the tranny you have,it will say in it which is out,follow that to the cooler in the rad ,that will be "in"

I know ,clear as mud.

remove the grill and follow the directions and be carefull out there for gods sake lol
