Bfg's Or Firestone?

Looking to replace my 285/75/16 BFG's A/T on stock rims with either the new BFG mud terrians or the Firestone Destination M/T's or may just go with the same BFG A/T....There on a leveled 2004 2500 hd..Do mostly highway driving but like the aggressive look of the mud tire...what do u guys think...opinions..What milage difference or wear life if i went with a mud terrian...The tires on the truck now are pretty worn but have another 3-5000 miles on them i guess...Thanks

If you do a ton of highway driving, th ATs are a heck of a lot quieter. I love the BFGs for their long life and good looks but I have Firestone's Destination ATs on my daily driver work Explorer and they are great. Smooth, quiet, and long wearing. I think the BFG is a better tire but they run a lot more $$$.

 

Mine are All Terrains though... not mud terrain.

I am in a similar situation. I have 80k + miles on a set of 285 bfg a/t's thinking of bfg m/t's or other more aggressive tire but leary of losing durability.

 

No real advice, just same boat.

I found the BFG mud for $961.00 to my door The firestone Destination M/T's were about $100 bucks cheaper to the door...Just not sure if going with the mud tire is the way to go..but i see some jeeps come with the mud terrian stock the rubicon model i think ...just dont wanna get 30k out of a set of mud tires,,if i can get 40-50k on a set of 285's on stock rims im happy...

If you do hgihway driving, the BFG MT's will wear fast due to spread out tread design. The MT's are great tires! However I would not purchase them again, as they are not a good highway tire when it comes to wearing slow. If you so alot of off roading, then it would be worth it. I've found the BFG AT's more practical for my uses. Recently just replaced two of them, which lasted 20 months for me.
