Fog Lights + High Beam

Can I override the default fog light setting that disables them when the high beams are on? if so how?

I work all over Canada in very very rural places (im talking dirt roads on the alberta/montanna border or the northern shore of lake superior) There are not many people but tons of animals to hit, moose, bears, deer, flying tigers, etc etc.

I want as much light as possible at night to spot them before they beat up my truck!

the truck is an 09 crew cab silverado ltz

There is no easy way to do it by simply pushing a button. You can do a little re-wiring to make it happen though:

I found that to be a catch22. When you turn on the fog lights, it tends to muck up your night vision out in front, since you have a bunch of brightness right in front of the truck. You'd be better off putting in better high beam bulbs to get more light further out, than up close.

Wouldn't it be better to run this diode to your HIGH BEAM relay so that you can still control when you want your fogs on or off with the switch? and this way when you hit your high beams your fogs will either STAY on or TURN on depending on if u have them on before hitting your highs. Gonna wire all my vehicles like that tomorrow when I get my hands on some diodes.

I think I would be looking for some aftermarket lights that will illuminate a wide area out in front. Between brands like PIAA, CIBIE, Hella, and KC HiLiters, you should be able to find lamps that will provide enough lighting to allow you to easily see animals along side the roads.

Think Rallye car lighting :D Might be reasonable to install some type of full width grille guard that will have mounting points for lights. That may add some level of protection to the front of the truck. Run a separate switch into the cab. Lighting kits come with relays so you will be able to run higher current levels to the lights compared to the factory wiring.
