Nbs Heated Seats

I have an '08 Silverado LTZ with heated front seats.

Two questions, first my heated seats appear to cut out off being on for an extended period of time (1 hour+). Neither front seat heat will work at this time. After a period of time, which varies from 10 to 30 minutes, they will begin functioning properly again. Is this an overheat safety? The owners manual does not reference anything like this.

Secondly, does anyone know how to override the function that automatically turns off the seat heat when the vehicle is remote started. According to the owner's manual, this is the correct functioning. I would like to keep the seat heat on once I have inserted the key in the ignition and moved it to the ON position.

Thanks!

There's something wrong with your seats, mine don't ever turn off :fume: I also don't think you can keep them on after a remote start once putting the key in. It certainly would be nice if they would.. but I think thats just the function of the seats.

They shouldn't turn off though untill you turn them off

Read this thread:Heated Seat Trouble, how to troubleshoot and also the dealer never fixed mine. The heated seats share the same circuit as the adjustable pedals and seat adjustments. Oddly mine did the same thing and dealer didn't nail down the issue on the first visit but what did seem to fix the problem, was slamming on the brakes while going 65 mph down the highway when an idiot pulled out in front of me. They have not failed to work since this happened 3 month ago.

Fixed by chance I suppose but whatever happened from that point on they have worked.

I agree with Steven. They should not turn off until you turn them off. :fume:

My driver side seat heater when selected on back only would turn off after about 2 mins. When set on both (back and bottom) the lights would stay on however the back would not heat. They replaced both back and bottom elements and re-programed the system.

It's been working great ever since. In fact the bottom gets very hot now...LOL.

The back does not get as hot as the Bottom. In fact the back in our Envoy & Hummer both get hotter than my truck.

You should take it in and have it looked at...They will have to take the seat apart to replace the heating element.
