99 Blazer 4.3 Engine Swap ? What Other Years Will Work ?

Ok, my 99 Blazer 4.3 spun a rod bearing last week. Real suprise since this engine is notorious for doing so. (POS !)

 

Anyways, I would like to find a used engine to swap in.

 

I know that 99-01 model years are a direct replacement.

 

I've also found that 02-05 4.3s have different knock sensors. Can they knock sensor boss on 02-05 4.3s be retapped to accept a 99 style knock sensor ?

 

I need to know what other model years will work ??

 

I'm willing to do the necessary Modifications if need be.
