I recently purchased a magnaflow PN#15789 for my truck, which is an extended cab and its my fault but I was unaware that this system was only for a crew cab, which is why I had problems installing. It doesn't look horrible, but I cant stand the way the tail pipe looks, its too far back, personal preference. Its almost under the bumper. My question is, in comparison to the extended cab, where is the extra length added to the cat back system? Would it be the tailpipe portion or muffler portion? If you look up the magnaflow pn on summit or where ever, you can see what i'm talking about. What Im looking for is just a nice 45 degree straight run of pipe directly behind the tire. Looking around I've found an MBRP tail pipe, 4" and it comes for a crew or ext. cab (don't know pn's) but it looks to be exactly what I'm looking for under the ext cab list, however pictures can be misleading. They could have one generic pic to describe every system they have, i've been fooled before. So, if the extra length is in the tailpipe, ism good and I'll just buy the MBRP one, but if not then i gotta do some cutting and welding of my own.

thanks.

I would bet you could take it to a muffler shop and have them fix the problem fairly easily and at a cheap cost. I had a flowmaster single in dual out installed on my 1999 for less than 200 bucks installed with stainless 2.5" tips. I would guess it would be 20-50 to cut a section out for you. Who knows though.

Here is an easy fix. Rather than cutting and welding, figure out where and how much to cut out and use one of these clamps. No need to fit one section inside the other. I've used them many times before. Very easy to reuse and will not crimp the pipes so you can adjust them for the perfect fot you are looking for. I would put some anti-seize on the threads as well so it is easy to remove and re-torque.
