reduced engine power came on.check the codes and P0220 showed. restarted the truck no reduced power indicator. is this something that can be intermittent

Here's what the code refers to if you didn't know already:

 

P0220 Throttle/Petal Position Sensor/Switch B Circuit Malfunction, or

P0220 ETS Throttle Posistion Property Malfunction (for electronic throttles)

 

It could be intermittent but you'll need to do some further diagnostics to determine that. You could start at this link:
