Recovery Strap

Do any of you guys have a recovery strap that's looking for a new home? I'm looking for something that's 2.5-3" x 15 feet or better. I broke my 2" ARB Snatch Strap yesterday while trying to recover a truck (he was REALLY stuck). I figured there's some guys on here who might not be "as young as they once were" and have some stuff laying around. The tax refund isn't as fat as I was hoping this year. I'm not looking for a tow strap, I'm needing an actual recovery strap similar to this guy:

As always, any help is appreciated.

I have a 4inch by 20 foot strap you can have for $50 shipped to you. It is new and never used.

Do you know the brand of this strap? A 4" nylon recovery strap would be beastly.

No it's a paper weight now because I don't use it. Yes it's a real recovery strap. I bought it on ebay from a company in virginia that custom builds straps and tarps. I am talking the tow straps, binder straps for truckers and tarps for side dumps and dump trucks. Industrial stuff not the cheapo blue tarps from walmart. I bought this 4 inch, a 3 inch and two 2 inch straps from them. In addition to dozen racket straps I bought from them. This was about 8 years ago. I have been looking for them ebay again.

And it's an actual nylon recovery strap?

The reason I ask is because most people don't know the difference between a recovery strap and a tow strap. I just like to be sure.

That second one is actually a tow strap. It's made of polyester webbing. They incorrectly named that. The first one looks like a decent deal, however I'm looking for something bigger than 2 inches. That truck bed mattress thing they have on there looks pretty sick though. Looks nice for all those times I have to ...uh... sleep in the bed of my truck. :dunno:

i tow strap doesn't give, it has very little stretching ability to it. It'll pop before it stretches.. A recovery/snatch strap stretches.. I've seen em stretch almost five feet before pulling the recovery vehicle backwards.. the whole purpose is to reduce the harsh effects of the recovery pull (aka snatch). If you've never seen it, i suggest you go to a mud pit and watch. Kinda interesting how people put the laws of physics to work on their side. Just make sure if you're in the recovery vehicle and you're not holding on to a steering wheel, you got a seat belt on and an oh shit bar in ya hand. Seen a girl get folded up ontop of the dash board. I have one at home, but it's not really a recovery strap, it's actually a six in mooring line from a ship.. comes in handy. OH!!! and the process of recovery/snatch is you hook up to the stuck vehicle and back up to their bumper, and then haul ass.. you use your momentum to actually SNATCH the stuck vehicle out of it's current situation. that's why it needs to be able to stretch. A tow strap will just pop!! Hope that clears it up for ya.. But no shit, go to a mud pit and watch. It's along the lines of NASCAR racing, but more exciting.

Right. You don't need a huge truck with a recovery strap. All you need to do is get going with some speed and when the strap tightens, either keep going or put the brakes on pretty hard. The strap does the work.

The Suburban wasn't going fast enough, but it gives you a good idea of what a recovery strap can do for ya.

Hmmm. Interesting. I have never had a problem in pulling out slow and steady, so I never really bothered to see the difference until now. I've always been either a tow strap or chain guy.

Chains and big ass straps are good when one truck has a big motor and big traction. When there's little or no traction, you have to go for broke.

yeah, good times watching bumpers fly through the air...LOL :dunno:

when i use to mud it was always in a foot or two of muck, and the whole goal was to get from one side to the other without getting hung, so the entire time you're wide open trying not to fall off into a rut and dodging other ass holes. there was no such thing as a stop and go for us little trucks (98 s10). But the bigger trucks normally did what they wanted cause they sat so high and tires were so big and wide, a foot of muck ment nothing to them.
