Auto Dim Wire Location

Hi Guys;

 

I am in the process of finishing my inside mirror with Temp-Compass and Auto dim.

 

I need to know which wires in the Left Outside mirror is the ones to connect to-Colors would be GREAT. The ones for Auto dim.

Also which plug the wires are located in as the outside mirror has two plugs.

Do a search for DL3, you will get a lot of posts, look for ones started by Zakman. I did this awhile back and don't remember the colors, but it is in the post.

The inside mirror powers the oudise mirror dimming. The wire runs from the inside mirror, down the left pillar, through the inside fuse box (not fused their, just a junction), then to the door hanress.

 

Chances are the wire is run from the inside mirror to the fusebox, but not from the fusebox to the outside mirror. If you are looking at the inside fuse box, two wires on the upper left connector (X4 lt-gray), Pins A5 and B7.

What I still need to know.

1. The wires that come from the inside mirror on pin 5 and pin 16-Where do they go from the inside mirror? I don't have any wires coming from the inside mirror on pin 5 & 16.

 

If someone has a wiring diagram oh the mirror harness, please look for me.

you have to install your own wires from the inside mirror to the drivers mirror, which means you'll have to find pins that fit in the inside mirror connector. I bypassed any connections inside the truck and went stright to the outside drivers mirror. Or else you have to find where pass throught other junction boxes and that is to difficult. Try to find a inside mirror harness from ebay or yard so you can scavange the wires and pins. It works I have auto dim this way, puddle lights (two orange and white wires run one to ground and one to the dome light grey wire), and power fold via a switch (there is post on this).

 

Do you have temp and compass working also? Because three wires would have to be run and pins put on the inside mirror connector also.

UPDATE

 

Hey Guys

I have been researching where to get switched 12V to go to the inside mirror. So today I spent a little time at the local dearlership. The servive manager was very helpful, but he got tired of me, so he printed a copy of the manual for me.

 

After looking i have found that switched 12V to the inside mirror should go to Pin 13-Yellow wire.

In order to get switched 12V to the mirror.

Run a yellow wire from Pin 13 on the mirror to The Junction Block-Left inside panel X9. PIN 1.

 

This will give you 12 volts to the mirror when the key is in ON/RUN position.

It works as I now have the compass lit up with the temp. display.

I'm about to buy a new or 09 Silverado, and this auto-dim mirror and outside auto-dim intrest me. Is this a standard feature?
