Output Shaft Differences

Greetings all, my first post so in advance...thanks to all for their ideal, facts and input.

Got myself a winter beater here in Ontario...'95 S10 ext.cab 4.3 (code Z) 3500NV 5 speed manual.

Heres the fun part.

I bought this truck pretty much blind and with some higher speed vibration.

The drive shaft has been totally McGivered!

Anyway tried to narrow down my search for a proper set of shafts for this...well lets just say for a 15 year old truck what they want I can buy another truck for.

It's really not a bad McGiver, simple effective but with one worn part.

The output shaft on the short front...the outer race is worn and the bearing is actually working as a sleeve instead...causing scarring and vibrational headaches.

I took it to a driveline shop and they where readily going to put a new output shaft on it for about 380.00.

I think I can do a little bit better than that.

Are all chevy output shafts the same?

Or do I look for one from a 4.3 NV3500?

Will the output shaft be the same as the one on the gearbox?

I'd rather get another driveshaft and get it cut down rebalanced etc making sure that I can readily replace the parts as needed from something that is popular and easily obtainable.

This is a monster for driveshafts and shops know it...maybe one or two years with those "H" style double cardon joints...Just way too greedy.

Even the local scrap yard is a little "mental" on this.

They want 950.00 plus 300 core (since I dont have a original shaft set) plus taxes...1400.00 bucks for 69 inchs of shaft (sure hope its made of gold!), never the mind it says remanfactured on it...how do I know it didn't come off a truck that was hit?

Beside GM wants 850...front to back..new.

So hopefully he's takin my advice and rubbing salt somewhere!

I know its that joint as its called 'carrier bearing" or hanger bearing is where the vibrations is coming from....65-80 KMH and then it almost disapates at 100KMH (50mph).

Just need to know about the output shaft so I can replace without killing my budget on a 15 year old truck.
