I have a 1996 motorhome with a chevy 454 7.4 L and all other gearing works fine but once I get to about 50 miles per hour transmission will shift and will just spin until I slow down and then it reengage into 3rd.

Sounds like your 4th gear selanoid may be bad.

scan the PCM for codes ,and I dought very much that it is a solinoid,4th clutch is done,finished,capute,worn,f****d,screwed,destroyed,pooched,fried(thats a good one)materialess on clutchplatesss,

 

should I keep going mike ?

 

people should not throw parts at these kind of problems,especially oil and a filter ,everybody and their dog does this and it never does anything for trans mechanical concerns

 

this guy needs his motor home diag'd ,tranny out and apart for an estimate regardless what I say
