What's In My Truck, 2008 Silverado Lt 1500? Speakers

It's an extended cab. The speaker grills on the back door look like a 4" diameter or something. Did they use anything that small? This has to be the worst stock radio ever.

 

I have the cd player, non-bose, regular POS radio. Really wish I could make it sound just a little better than a good stock system (so about 3 times better than it is now) for cheap. Was thinking about replacing the rear speakers but man that's little, and maybe adding a small amp. It's the XM radio that's in it now and I'm keeping the head unit.

 

Been awhile since I upgraded much. If you have a high-line in on the amp can you just hook your existing speaker wires to the amp, and run more speaker wire back to the speaker? Just have to run main power wire and ac on wire? Thanks!

Yup the stock and even the upgraded Bose speakers on GM trucks really suck if your used to better sound quality from another vehicle. GM went the cheap route to save $$$ so you can definitely get better quality from the stock radio if you upgrade the speakers. I blew out the speakers on my old 99 Silverado and 1 or 2 of them on my old 07 Sierra very quickly, and never had the volume up full blast either. The speaker paper tears very easily with too much bass Despite having the premium sound system on my 08, the audio still sucks. Heck the audio was better on the stock radio setup on an old Jeep Cherokee i used to have as compared to what I have in my 08! Needless to say, a speaker upgrade is definitely in the works in the coming year or two.
