Guys With Ddm Hid And Relay

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just did my install today of the DDM hid low beam kit. I also installed the relay. What I need to know is should there be anything left not connected. As it is now, Everything is connected from the bulbs to the ballasts to the relay to the battery. I do not have any connectors "unused". I came accross a diagram for another companies relay, and it does not use the "bulb power" hook up when using the relay. My kit never came with instructions, so im winging it here guys. Just want to know so I dont do any damage. Also, do I have to pull the DRL fuses with the relay? Thanks guys

You HAVE to have at least one of the two factory low beam power plugs connected to your relay harness, as that signal triggers the relay to feed power to the HID ballasts.

I have everything connected, just not sure if thats how she is supposed to be. Want to be sure before I turn em on.

If you have one relay per side then the stock bulb power would be used to trip each relay. If you only have one relay then one stock bulb power plug will be unused.

OK OK, but what I am getting at is will it cause any problems with everything being hooked up??? Looking for someone to chime in here who has installed the DDM relay. It runs to both ballasts/Bulbs, then a positive and negative.

Hubie, just try them. I'm sure you're fine.

I have the relay hooked up, and took out fuse "32" for the DRL's (nbs sierra). I have seen guys say to remove the "fuses" to disable the drl's, but I can only find one fuse for them according to the manual. With this one fuse pulled, and the relay harness installed, will the DRLs still be on during the day?

i think pulling the fuse disables the DRL's, so no.. i think the relay is just for higher current through the wires to replace the stock relay.

i could be wrong.

Pulling either one of the DRL fuses disables the DRLs, yes. However since you've got a relay harness you don't have to disable the DRLs -- the ballasts/bulbs get the full voltage fed to them straight from the battery so DRLs won't hurt anything.
