New Sub Owner W/ Questions

Picked up a well used 2500 Sub (Vortec 5.7L/4L80E/SF14B) w/ 180K on the ticker from an old acquaintance last night. Was owned by a large surveying company and maintaned by their FTE mechanic. Surprisingly, it doesn't smoke on startup, has good power, & tranny doesn't hunt on the highway (empty).

 

Of the few issues I've found, the most pressing to resolve are:

- Temp gauge is "unresponsive"... sits on 100* for a few minutes, then rises to approx. 120-130* and never goes higher. Guessing it *IS* getting to temp, since it'd likely blow codes if it didn't hit 190*???

- Electric locks (front doors only?) clicks, but do not actuate (not really that big of deal)

- Recommended ATF for filter/flush?

 

Still need to go over better and will likely replace all fluids before long. Was happy to see the "Hydro-boost" (rather than the vac booster) too!

Also, the lamp/indicator for the right turn signal & high beams didn't light on the cluster... then magically, the signal lamp began to work, but not high beam indicator. FWIW, the DRL indicator (green) does work... is this indicator shared with the high beam (just turns blue?)

 

 

 

Another issue that's reared it's head... after parking (overnight), there appears to be fuel leaking from the bottom of the plastic "skid" under the tank. Is this anything common? Like the skid rubbing or holding filth to rust the tank? Some issue with fuel (supply/return?) lines? There seems to be a BUNCH of vacuum in the tank when releasing the cap (points to a non-vented cap being used), is that normal?
