Rebuilding An Old 1949 Truck

I was recently given (yes it was free to me) a 1949 Dodge pilot house half ton truck. I know this is a GM site, but I was hoping for some ideas on how to get this restored. The frame has rusted through, but the cab is in decent condition. I was thinking I might find an 80's model GM car or truck with a 350 in it to use as the new frame and drivetrain. I need something with a 116" wheelbase or close to it. Any suggestions? Unfortunately, I do not have any pics at this time. It is not much to look at right now anyway.
