OK, I had a individual GPS unit. It has eaten it's pigs. Now I am trying to decide what to do. I don't mind the seperate deal but I am really interested in the idea of an in dash one. If I go that route I would also like it to be a DVD player. I know it's not a great idea but most of my trips are 2-3 hours and music gets old. I am just wondering if someone can direct me to a reasonably priced unit. Also, I don't want to lose anything i have now such as Bluetooth. Any help is appreciated.

I just installed a Kenwood DNX9140. I wouldn't call it reasonably priced, it is more at the upper price point. However, the Kenwood units have the Garmin guidance system which I prefer. What guidance system are you currently using? If you like the maps, you may want to find a built in that uses that guidance system. The Pioneer's are top notch as well. You will need a factory integration module as well. Go to crutchfield and enter your vehicle information and do your research on all that you need there. Just don't shop there...you can find better deals elsewhere. Choose from the lowest price and buying from an Authorized etailer that most brands (like Kenwood and Pioneer require for a warranty or service) OR use sites like:

these are just examples...but they are ones that will usually price match any deal that you find at places like:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/

https://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/

Sonic is a great research site as well. I have bought a lot of things from them, but they do not have factory warranties. They have their own which makes me a little nervous. The site is top notch and they do have some decent deals. I have heard A LOT of negative things about dealer cost audio...be advised. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm just about finished with my audio make-over and couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the info. The thing is, I can get another separate GPS system, but if I can get a reasonably priced in dash, I think that is the way to go. I would like one that also was a DVD player as well if I am going to spend the money. I had a Mio and if I recall correctly they are pretty similar to Garmins mapping. I am not an expert in any of this so I need to do a lot of research. Also, I have the Bose system. Is there anything I need to watch out for there?

I have the Bose system and had the in dash Alpine IVA-W505 which I was happy with as an entertainment system but the Nav did not work well at all. I've been a long time Pioneer user and just wasn't happy with the Nav in the Alpine so I went back to Pioneer. The Pioneer is much better (IMO). Either (and I assume most units) can be bi-passed to watch video while moving. That being said DON'T DO IT WHILE DRIVING. My Fiance uses it on longer trips but I make her get chick flicks that I'm uninterested in so that I keep my eyes on the road. There is a ton of great info on Pioneer units at www.avic411.com

Either unit you'll need a bunch of adapters, there was a good thread on this here http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=113249
