Radio Antenna Too High For Me!

(New member!) I just picked up this new truck on the weekend! Awesome machine! One small issue I'm trying to deal with is the height of the AM/FM antenna! It just catches my garage door every time I go in and out, and it is scraping the roof beams on the parkade at work. The antenna is about 7" above the highest point on the roof, and I like having it a little above the roof so it acts as an "early warning" if I'm heading into a low parking garage. However I'd like it to be about 5" shorter. Does GM sell an alternate antenna? If not, can I alter this one (e.g. cut, bend or angle it?) without messing up radio reception?
