2005 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 1/2 ton

I purchased my truck about 2 months ago. When I bought it I heard and felt the rattle or knock in the steering. I replaced the int steering shaft and we were good to go. But there is still some noise coming from the front end it seem like right in front of my feet. I cannot feel it anywhere but I hear it. The only time I hear it is when I start from a complete stop or and when I come to a complete stop. I sometimes here it going over bumps but it is only when there are bumps right after I take off. If I hit bumps going down the road I do not hear it. I GM mechanic referred me to Bulletin # 01-07-30-042F but that is between gears 2-3 and so on. I do not have any noise when shifting. Les Schwab thought it was coming from where the front drive line enters the transfer case. Another mechanic thought it was the differential or transfer case mounts. I am at a loss. I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this or not. I have read about the slip yoke but as far as I can tell that is in the rear and only extends to 2004 and prior models. I have also had the shocks replaced in the front and the suspension checked and everything was tight and the sound could not be duplicated. The sound seems to be worse when it is warmer out. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

I am not sure how dumb it is but I am replying to my own thread. I was messing with my truck again last night and found that when I grab the front drive line and shake it back and forth I get the sound I have been hearing. I have read the posts about it rotating and that calls for you to replace the slip yok. But I am not sure if that is what I need to do. Could this be a worn u joints? Any input would help. Should I have movement in the drive line like that? Thanks,

Have your upper and lower ball joints checked. Good luck

is the problem only in 4auto? If you get the noise in 2wd then it isn't the front drivline. I'd guess either the slip spline on the front propshaft or a u joint in the front prop. Check the u-joints and put spline grease in the front slip spline.
