Oil Life Reset Not Going Back To 100%?

Hi there,

I just purchased a used 2003 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 crew cab over the weekend with 97,450 miles. This morning I took it in to a local shop for an oil change and 2 things happened, my oil pressure gauge stopped working and when I reset the oil life meter instead of going back to 100% it went to 81%. I brought it back immediately and they checked the oil level and all the connections and no change. The tech said that the oil sensor is most likely the culprit for the oil pressure gauge but what about the oil life meter? Is it related?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  And there aren't any "bellows". There are solid plastic doors the actuators move, which largely seal just by themselves, and then have a strip of foam around the edge to better seal the door. The foam does deteriorate over time, but this is unlikely to be a significant cause of the problem.

  are the heater controls set for hot or cold air? If it's set for hot, and say, to get air from outside the cab (vs recirculated air), even w the fan off, air will get pushed through the hvac system, over the heater core and into the cab. Switching it to cold will reduce the temp to whatever it is outside. Switching to recirculate mode (which may mean switching to vents or whatever, read your owners manual), will reduce the amount of airflow through the hvac system.
