Tire Wear On 2010 2500hd

I had my oil changed @ 8300 miles at WalMart and the read-out stated that the tires had 16/32 of tread on the front two wheels and 13/32 of tread on the rear two wheels. This is all highway mileage with around 500# of payload in the bed. In the past I have never rotated tires and they wore fairly even. I guess I'll have to rotate them to get even ware on thhis 2010. Have any of you'se guys noticed any differences in tire wear?

Always a good idea to rotate tires every 5000-7000 miles. Very strongly recommended by mechanics and tire shops. Also a good idea to have an alignment done at 15,000 miles on new vehicles. EVEN IF you don't feel it pulling or feel there is an alignment problem. I had mine done at 15,000 at the suggestion of a friend and sure enough it was significantly out of spec even though it did not feel like it.

If you run 80PSI in the rear you will wear them out.

My rears looked like slicks after 30k highway miles at 80PSI.

I replaced the rears & lowered them to 65PSI - after another 21k miles they still have well over 1/2 tread left (my fronts have about 1/4 tread left after 51k).

(Ordinarily I do rotate tires every 10k but I've been lazy since I got this truck.)
