I've always cleaned my engine bay w/ greased lightning citrus cleaner w/o any problems. I started using the "purple stuff" that was on sale. Well 2 mos later I notice this white, powdery residue on the aluminum. It's not on the shiny alum, just the alum that has the rough texture in the front of the block. Is there any way to stop the corrosin before it disolves my motor? BTW, greased lightning from WM is awesome!

Yeah, that purple power is a really bad oxidizer, especially, when it's hot, or what you are spraying it on is hot. I really only recommend using purple power on very tough grease, as it is really strong: spray it, scrub it, rinse it. The faster the better. Just wipe all that oxidized aluminum off and clean it again with something less corrosive and rinse it good, and you won't have to worry about that ugly stuff under the hood!
