nonstop Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 For those of you that live in the rust belt. What do you use for undercoating?
GnatGoSplat Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Do not use any hard, tar-based undercoating. It will trap moisture and promote rust. I would recommend Waxoyl. That's what they use in Europe. You can make your own Waxoyl too (instructions on the web if you do a Google search).
gmcjoe Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Back in the late 80's I used to spray undercoating on cars, #### that job sucked I live in Michigan and will never have a car undercoated. As Gnat posted, it closes up the factory drain holes and actually traps water. I can't tell you how many 'rustproofed' cars I see with rusted out door skins along the bottom. I just hit the quarter car wash weekly to spray the salt off of the underside of the rig. I say save your $$ for other mods
