What Year Did The Passenger Side 4th Door Become Available?

I meant DRIVERS side--sorry but it would not let me edit the title :ughdance:

I think it became std in 2000 (?) but was an option before that. Can anyone confirm which year it became available as an option? And for sure which year it was a std on the extend cab?

Thank you.

Your correct...Mid-year 2000 was the first year for the 4th door,It was actually located on the driver's side,The passenger side had a 3rd door standard on the GMT800 trucks.

So mid year 2000 - but was that the 1st year as an option or as std equipment for the extended cab?

If it was as an option in 2000, then what year did it become std in the ext cab?

It was standard equipment mid-year 2000.

I always liked the 3 door over the 4 door just because it made me feel more comfortable that my side of the truck would be a little more sturdier since it was all one piece instead of it opening.

Thank you!

So do you or anyone else know what year it became an option?

It was standard...It never was an option.

The only time any additional doors were optional was on the GMT400 trucks from '96-'98,The passenger-side 3rd door was optional on them (RPO code E24)

MSD said std in 2000, and a friend thought it was an option before that, so why I am asking to verfy if indeed it was an option before 2000. My friend said it cost $330 more as an otion, then it become std equipment in the extended cab and they bumped up the base price.

Daryl-you have a good point. But the convenience of having easy access to tools and equipment on the drivers side for me out weighs side inpact probability. Knocking on wood...

No,The 4th door was not an option before that.

My friend must have been thinking of the mid 90s then.

Thank you for clarifying this up for me. :ughdance:

Yeah,He's probably thinking of the '96-'98 GMT400 trucks...A passenger-side 3rd door was optional on those.

I'll have to look at my window sticker from the '97 I had to verify what the price was,On the '99-up trucks the 3rd door was standard equipment, then once they added the 4th door it was standard.
