Squealing From Left Front When Turning Right

Recommended Posts

When I make a fairly sharp right turn, like at an intersection, I get this squeal sound that I believe is coming from the driver's side front wheel area. It doesn't do it all the time but there are two spots in town that are pretty reliable in making the noise.

It's only when making a right turn however. I can't recreate the noise when turning left.

Any ideas what I should check?

I'm praying it's not the infamous ball joints. It does have a RC 2" level. I still have the stock tires that have been on for 3 years so there shouldn't be any rubbing unless the plastic liner got bent somehow.

Hmmm, I checked it out earlier and to the best that I can tell the brake line looks correct.

The only time I've noticed it before was in the Lowe's parking lot. It seemed no matter where you turned in there you could hear it squeal. I've also heard other people's vehicles do it too in that parking lot so I just brushed it off as something with the pavement there as I can't recreate it anywhere else.

I noticed something different yesterday. It seems like it is only in certain areas that I get this squeaking/squealing noise.

One is when making a turn at the end of my road. A 45 degree downhill right turn to level ground.

Another is a street with a 45 degree uphill right turn onto level ground.

Then yesterday I notice it at the hunting ground. Just a flat road. The noise lasted across maybe a 50-75 yard strectch. Then I don't hear anymore from it anywhere else.

When I'm going slow, about 5-10 mph, on the flat ground you can hear the squeak a lot better. It is still coming from the front driver's side area but it isn't a constant noise. Just a repetitive noise, almost like there's a spot on the wheel making the noise at a certain point in the wheel's rotation.

Any ideas where to look?
