Changing Out Ubec Unit

Hi, I have a question regarding the R&R of a UBEC assembly in a 2003 GMC 2500 HD 6L pickup. I recently had it in to the dealer for a few electrical gremlins when he called me later that day to inform me that a rodent, (probably a mouse), had chewed some wires bare & also left some bodily deposits in my UBEC unit. He did his best to repair the wires but indicated I may have to replace the UBEC if my problems persisted. Is this a job a shade tree mechanic like myself could tackle, or would you recommend I have the dealer do it? I know the part is a little spendy, (I was quoted $450.00). Thanks for any feedback.

UBEC=underhood bussed electrical center. Basically it is the box in the engine compartment with all the fuzes in it. (Drivers side).

Oh, o.k. It's not hard to replace. Pull the surrounding plastic shroud off of it, unbolt the wire connectors from it and remove. But the actual UBEC doesn't have any wires in it, just wires connected to it.

That sounds good, I'm thinking the rodent "fluids" have caused some corrosion issues that may be causing my problems. Thanks.
