Dyno'ed My Truck!!!!!!

Yep, I just made it to MTI in houston with 20 minutes till closing. I told them I had made a 40 minutes trip into 2 hours+ cause 5pm traffic, so they went ahead and did my truck. Quickly pulled a 7.0L vette of the dyno and put my truck on there. While they let my truck cool off for a few minutes, I was in complete AWWWW at all the cars there!!!!! Vette after vette after z06 after z06. Probly had 20 bas ass cars to be there.

 

Anyway, time to dyno my truck, they did it in 2nd gear cause 3rd would hit the speed limiter. 3rd gear would show about 12 more hp they said. They did 2 pulls for $75, and just watching and hereing my truck do this was worth every penny.

 

Results:

 

MAX Power = 249.1 hp

 

MAX torque = 272.4 ft/lbs

 

86.3F  29.92-0.81 in. Hg.  0ft.  CF=1.02  RPM/MPH=67

 

Does anyone here know what a stock 2001 5.3L will pull?

 

I'm going to buy LS1-edit, and they said just pay for a dyno session and i'll program your truck for you. They use LS1-edit on all the cars there, but the don't have the truck program, yet. (the version were you can do unlimited cars, big $$$)

Just looking around on the net, i've seen anywhere from 175-194 stock rwhp??? True?

 

A guy there said a stock 5.3L with HHP 3 programing in 3rd gear can pull 220-225rwhp...

 

I wish I brought a camera there!!! I'd love a video of that or even a few pictures. Next time i guess.

 

I need to get a new USB cable and i'll scan the print out of my runs and post it.

I thought parasitic driveline loss for an Auto tranny was about 15-20%.  That would mean RWHP to be 228-242 HP roughly (for a 5.3L 285 HP motor).

 

You're showing 249 plus the 12 HP they said they'd give you for not being in third gear, so 261 RW HP.  Those are pretty good numbers, and you should be proud of that.

 

At what RPM is your max torque and HP numbers at?

I agree with Shaners.  I haven't heard of a 5.3 dynoing in the 100's.

 

I was supposed to have my '02 dyno'd last weekend, but some things came up.  I am considering a trip to the dyno (80 miles) weekend after next.

 

BTW, we are talking Dynojet right?  I have heard mixed reviews about the Mustang brand Dyno's (surprise).

Go there and take a look at what I saw, also the very same dyno that my truck was tearing up!!! Theres a picture of a red Z28 doing the same thing.  

 

I'm very proud of what my truck pulled! All of them there said that was very good too. I wish everyone here could have watched or atleast listened to my pulls!!! The sound of a dyno with truck tires on it and a screaming 5.3L through a 40 series flow!!!!!!!!!!!  :flag:  :(  :lol:

COOL, I can't wait untill I have a job, a few more mods, and can get mine dyno'ed

 

so your running around 312HP Flywheel, comapred to the stock's 285.

I'm not sure what i'm turning at the crank, i've heard  many of times, even from magazines, 194hp at the wheels, stock. 100hp loss through the drivetrian is alot, but with alot of these trucks hp is made through rpm's and not low end torque, I can see I higher amount of friction loss.

As measured on Dynojet's Model 248C Dynamometer

 

MORROW.025  73.9F 28.69-0.44 in.Hg.   0 ft.  CF=1.04  RPM/MPH=68

Max Power = 226.0 Max Torque = 264.3

This ford is supercharged, and I'm still out pulling it!!!
