Driver Door Lock, Window, Cargo Light, Power Mirrors

I have no power on the driver's side of my 03 GMC Sierra. The driver's door power lock, window, and both mirrors will not work. Also the cargo light in the back will not come on, the dinger alarm that sounds when you leave your key in the ignition will not work, and when I shut off the vehicle the radio automatically goes off, where before it shut off after one you opened the door, or after a certain amount of time had lapsed and still sitting in the vehicle. Last week the truck set all day on saturday, then sunday, I got in and started the vehicle and all kind wierd stuff was happening, some of the gauges did not work along with the other items mentioned above including the shifter indicator. Also the battery light and security lock light were both illuminated, I continued to drive about a mile and all the gauges started working and the lights went off. Also my push button shifter for 2wd, 4wd high, low and awd has been acting up for a while. I am constantly having to put the truck back in 2wd, when I start it sometimes it automatically goes in 4wd low, 4wd high, awd, and some times the little red light illuminates for neutral. What is going on? It will not stay in 2wd which is all I generally use.

I'm not sure I can help you with your issue but I will let you know the following...

GM uses a term called RAP (Retained Accesory Power) for the window switches, radio and other items. This RAP signal gives power/signal to all the items that stay on when you turn off the vehicle. One GM window switch I am familar with will not function without the RAP signal as this signal is the voltage to power the regulator for the microcontroller on the switch. If your passenger window works but driver window switch doesn't then perhaps the RAP signal wire could be damaged.

The powertrain control module (PCM) has a CAN bus to communicate with other devices on the truck and to the 2wd/4wd selector switch. On my truck my select switch started to display 4wd hi occasionally when turning on the truck. Then one day it displayed 4wd lo and I got the "Service 4WD System". I looked under the truck and the wiring harness to the TC was damaged by the front drive shaft. The tech who serviced my truck left this harness off/loose and the wires were stripped by the rotating drive shaft and shorted out.

sorry Abner,i have to have more clarity on how a tech doing a lub tech service moved a harness that wrapped around the drive shaft.

Hello Robert,

First and foremost I want to apologize to you and anyone else who I may have unintentionally insulted or offended. I appreciate all the help from the professional technicians who take time out to help everyone on the forum. Please understand I did not mean to offend anyone and if I did I'm sorry, my bad.

I believe this was a communication error and I did not add "rebuild" in front of the service for the tranny. At 76k miles I had my tranny rebuilt at the dealer because of a worn down 3-4 clutch. At 83k miles the torque converter was going in/out of lockup. When the dealer pulled down the pan it was in their works "full of metal flakes". I did not have a chance to go see how much metal flakes but they replaced the torque converter and did a complete fluid flush. Later on I got issues with the 2WD/4WD switch indicator and thought maybe it was the switch as other people have indicated in the forums. But then when I looked under to make sure the connection was ok I saw the harness sitting on top of the front drive shaft. The metal crimp on the boot of the front drive shaft had cut into the harness and stripped the lower wires insulation and caused a short. The dealer fixed the harness and admitted it was not correctly routed. I attached a couple of photos for reference.

In conclusion I think it would have been better to say just check the harness to make sure it has not been damaged or simply nothing at all.
