Bug Shields W/o Using 3m Tape

So I bought a new GM bug shield for my GMT900 but I noticed that it uses 3m tape to partially attach to the hood. I don't like the idea of this since I'd like to keep debris and dirt off the hood under the shield. Is there any brand out there that the shield sits off the hood so dirt and debris doesn't get trapped behind it? My old man had one on his 99 Silverado that sat way off to the point you can clean real good behind it. Any suggestions? If you have one that sits off the hood please include a pic.

My truck's a GMC. The oem shield mounts just above the chrome on the hood. THANKS

i have the EGR superguard from autoanything. it installs using the existing holes under the hood. i have had no issues with it (wind or rubbing). takes less than 5min to install

AVS mounts in existing holes under hood and does not touch anything on the front or top of the hood.

What about the OEM ones ? :D

The oem one I bought has clips for the ends, but above the chrome part of the hood it attaches using 3m tape. The guy I bought it from had it on his truck prior to a branch falling on it. When he got the new one he decided not to put it back on. If you looked at his truck where the guard was attached with the 3m tape it was all scuffed up from the debris getting behind the shield. From what it appears it is pretty low profile so really getting in there to clean it would be a pain. That and the dirt that gets up in the 3m tape would be left there too.

Thanks for the info on the ones that sit up from the hood. Do any of you that posted have pics of it?

WeatherTech makes one that attaches to the existing holes on hood and does not touch front or top. I'll try and get a pic up for you to see tomorrow. I really like it!

Thanks. Did you order yours from online or local? Is yours the smoke color?
