Is Chevy About To Take Me For A Ride

2008 Silverado 5.3 engine. Codes p0449 & po445. i called chevy customer service and asked if my truck ( gave vin #) was covered by emissions warranty. She said yes for 80k miles or until 2016. She says they will fix my truck if once the diagnostic test is done and it is emmission related. These codes are emission related, right? Are they going to tell me some BS and steal my money or fix my truck. By the way thanks to everyone on this forum for letting me know to call about the possible warranty. Any info would be invaluable, Thanks.

It could go either way. Maybe a non-emission problem causing the emission codes to be thrown. If that were the case, then I'd think you'd pay

If something other than the evaporative emission canister is causing the code, how would I know what to fix. I assume that if the code is being caused by the canister then it would be an emission warranty repair. If something else is causing the code what good is the coding system.

That probably is your problem. I was giving you a situation where they might not pay for the repair. And the "coding" system doesn't work the way you think it does. Just because you get a code for a sensor, that doesn't necessarily mean that particular sensor is the problem
