Help! Abs Issues...

Recommended Posts

I went to a 285/70/17 with new rims from a 275/65/18. Now when I brake my abs kicks in and vibrates like all hell!! It rides real smooth unless I need the brakes. Do you think possibly the tire shop hit a sensor. It sucked driving home this morning in the pouring rain praying to God. That I didn't have to brake hard!! Please help what's wrong here????

Thanx in advance,

Matt

You didn't notice anything wrong right after leaving the tire shop? How long did it take before you noticed something was wrong?

There's not enough difference in the height of the tire to make the ABS act up, so I'd be on the phone with the tire shop and ask them what they want to do to take care of it.

Then again, could be a tire shop like one of the local ones here that will create another problem for you....keeps the return customers coming in.

I noticed it at the first stop after leaving the tire store I was about half way home. Yesterday I pulled the wheel off and check the sensors ( they're fine). I removed the clips holding the drums on and cleaned real good inside there.I put the wheels back on and no vibrations at all. All the way to work and home (50 mile trip). I'm thinking it was the clips I removed. I'm hoping I'm right. I done some hard breaking too. To make sure, everything seems to be working good now. We will see!

Take care,

Matt
