Little Black Mystery Wire

Hi Guys

 

I was under my truck and noticed a small black wire

broken off from under my gas tank fill spout

it looks like it was attached to the underside of the gas cap outlet

because it is wire tied around the gas tank fill tube

 

I am thinking it is for a sensor that kicks on your check engine lite?

 

only because my sister paid for a service charge on her Dodge

for them to screw the cap in tight nothing like a Hemi .....

You sure it's not the tether for the gas cap? That's what it sounds like.

yeah Im sure Jim , that thing busted off a long time ago and I got a locking cap

 

you have to get under the truck and look up to see it

the other end goes into the fuel pump harness

I'm thinking so. Maybe a ground from the tank to the filler opening to keep it from sparking when static builds up. That would be my guess.
