Tailgate 2008 Silverado

I have a 2008 Silverado LTZ Extended cab with the EZ lift tailgate. Over the last several days, it has started to make a loud clack sound when the tailgate is first raised from the horizontal position. Any idea what this would be?

Owners of some 2007 Silverado and Sierra pickups may hear a clicking noise when closing the tailgate.

 

The noise may be caused by the right side snap-in hinge bushing. If this is the case, replace it with p/n 15866337.

 

TIP:Â The support cables make some noise during closing as they contact the hem of the tailgate during closing. This is minimal and normal. This was dated Dec 2006. It might be referring to the 2007 classic PU. It doesn't really say which body style. Call your dealer to find out for sure.
