Rough Country Leveling Kit And Towing

I tow a travel trailer using weight distribution, specifically Equalizer brand.

If I installed a RC leveling kit, would anything change?

I'm not personally a fan of "leveling" trucks that will be used for towing. The stock rake on the truck "evens out" when hooked to a load, but when leveled... it looks squatted in the back. I guess that looks worse to me than the stock (unloaded) rake. That said, I haven't heard anyone here complain about mechanical problems from using a WD hitch on a leveled truck. The only reason I've even thought about this is that I considered adding a small leaf in the rear. That tends to raise the back, so raising the front an equal amount may make sense.

I towed for 4 years with the RC 2" kit and without issue. The truck will still have a little bit of a rake, and the weight distribution bars help keep the truck near level. I towed 31' travel trailer weighing in around 6500 lbs.

That setup looks good, and I would never guess it was leveled on the front. I guess it depends on the tongue weight too, and I'm pretty much at the max with ours. Ideally, the WD system *should* settle the front and rear the same, but I've seen a lot of them that weren't. Good info.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
