Pres's speech from tonight.

I realize that we are more than likely going in by ourselves.  I still personally am not sold on war, not knowing how many troops we are expected to loose.  Which if cornered that crazy B@stard will throw whatever hes got at us.  Which really scares me.  I don't really care for losing my marine buddies anytime soon.  Don't get me wrong I'd go if our values and way of life were being infringed on, but I wouldn't feel right going in just so we can have gas at 99 cents instead of a buck fifty.

I see it as going in so we don't have a nuke, biological or chemical bomb detonated somewhere a few years from now by Iraq more that gas being .99 per gallon.

Long overdue in my book.

We cannot forget that if we had stepped in before WWII and not waited Hitler might never have gotten as far as he did.  The bad thing about not acting now is that we never know what we could have prevented.  Do we really need to wait until the radicals decide to set off a nuke in one of our major cities?  I think that any loss of life is not good.  It is even worse if the lives lost are inocent lives.  When I signed on the dotted line I knew what I was getting into and I am prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to defend our great nation and our way of life.  We need to fight this war on our terms.....not theirs.......just my .02

Well said Tobes.  Too many times in our history we have put things off until it was too late and it bit us in the ass.  And that bite in the ass could very well be a nuclear weapon.  I sure don't want to see the day when a nuclear weapon or weapons are used again (especially since so many have them now), because once that door nuke door opens, who knows how many millions will be killed before it is over.  It is better to do it now and prevent what could be a world disaster later down the road...

I agree. Get 'em. :D

I was convinced before the speech! :thumb:

I do think he will be more prepared after his experience from Desert Storm.  We need to attack in an unexpected manner to catch him off guard.

Come on...(BTW Im not trying at all to start anything with anyone here), but you have to open your eyes to realize that were not going there to "sacrifice" men and women (who were well aware of a possibility of battle when they enlisted) to lower gas prices... Get real... Thats not even close to what this is about... As far as him throwing everything hes got at us... Thats exactly what were talking about here!!! If hes going to anyway, why wait until hes got even more to 'throw' at us??? This has been a long time coming IMO  and Im sick of "unaware" people crying about it....

I was sold on eliminating Iraq 12 years ago.  Not much arm twisting is needed for me right now!

I didn't watch his speech, it was preparation for the Bear/packer game here.

I didn't see the speech, either, but I didn't need to. We should have dismantled Iraq's war machine a long time ago. But, we didn't, so now we need to go finish the job. An unfortunate side effect of war is the loss of many lives, both combatants and civilians. Our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen know that death is one of the hazards that go with our job. I've faced it a few times and been lucky enough to come out on top. That doesn't mean that I quit while I'm ahead. I go back, time and time again. Why? Because it's my job and it's something that I believe in. We aren't in the military for the money. It's a way of life for us.(If you're trying to get rich by joining the Armed Forces, you are sadly mistaken) We believe in our mission, our country, and our Brothers and Sisters in arms.

The military isn't for everyone, but we are an all-volunteer force. We go into situations like Kuwait, Somalia, Panama, Kosovo, of our own free will.

So don't let the loss of life be a deterrent. Send us to go get the bad guys so that our kids and parents can live in peace.

My son called this week from Camp Lejeune to say he has been classified as operational.  He will head off to MOS school next week, but should be ready to be deployed overseas at any time.

Until fairly recent times, I've not been sure if we should take this pig out right now.  I've always viewed him as a big problem waiting to happen anyways, and like someone said earlier, we should've finished him off during the Gulf War!

What changed my mind is I was thinking not so much about the threat of him, or Iraq proper doing the unthinkable, but more his aiding the terrorists who can and will do it!!  What happens if he starts shipping BCW and even nukes to all form of terrorists to unleash on the West, and mostly the good old USA?

I personally think that is a much more likely problem we face if he's left untouched, rather than trying to do it himself.  Afterall, if he does try something like that, he knows he's toast (maybe literally) !!

I fear for our fighting people, but like Friz said, they know the risks.  And they are the BEST trained, lead, and disciplined fighting force the world has ever seen (let's not forget we got the best and biggest toys too) - that helps a lot too!!  :)  :D

Well maybe its the fact that we give saddam 12 million a day anyways to fund his terrorist activities due to the fact that he has the most easily refined oil.  Before telling one to open their eyes you should heed ones own advice.  You're naive if you don't think this war isn't about oil.  Yes people will die, but realize that they will die because of oil.  The only thing that keeps our economy moving is oil, excuse me Cheap Oil.

Posted
I dont disagree that we need oil... And that may be a plus after all is said and done with him.. But as anyone could see, thats not the main focus of this whole ordeal... We are dependant on foreign oil, yes... But we are not dependant on Iraqi oil... We dont even buy oil from Iraq anyway... Maybe youve heard of our little sanctions with them??? If worse came to worst we have our own #### oil if certain people in government would only allow us to drill for it...  :thumb:

    • Are you using a weight distribution hitch system with your trailer as that alone can change the actual tire pressure requirements needed. It would prove interesting to see what the actual individual axle weights are on your truck when you are hooked up to the trailer. In fact when your hooked to the trailer, typically if anything unless it has a large capacity weight distribution system that is over cranked, often the weight on the front axle will be less when hooked up vs driving empty and certainly if one doesn't have a weight distribution hitch. Really the only times one may get up there with weight on the steer axle is if there was a snow plow mounted on the front or a motorcycle on a rack or with a very large jockey tank full of fuel at the front of the box that transfers a bit of its weight to the front axle.
    • Great info here thank you. I just joined, we have a 2014 Silverado truck we bought about 4 years ago with less than 5,000 miles on it. It has approximately 24,000 on it now. It appears to have all the standard issues that people are talking about. Occasional charging problems especially using 110 volt, occasional blinking triangle where nothing will turn on when first starting the truck but it will reset itself if you wait 10 to 15 minutes. Noisy coupler between the flywheel and the generator. Our truck is speed limited to 74 mph, is there any way to change that? The latest issue we have been dealing with is when driving long distance on the highway at full speed the generator does not keep the batteries charged. The meter will go into the yellow/red border Zone for charge status and the yellow triangle will illuminate solid but the generator will not keep the battery charged, not sure why the controller doesn't tell the gas engine to increase RPM to increase generator output it usually stays well below 25 kilowatts even though the battery is discharging and I have to slow down the highway to 45 mph and eventually pull over and let the truck idle to charge the battery so I can continue driving at speed. Has anyone had this issue before or have any idea how to diagnosed it? When via Motors was around it they were very helpful at troubleshooting. This becomes much if the Terrain is hilly and you're towing a small trailer
    • I have the GMC accessory (REV) cover installed by dealer. Ordered with the truck.  They did a very good install job, can't find a single issue. Some water gets in around the tailgate but no where else.  You can see daylight around the tailgate but that's not the covers fault.  Installation is means everything. Guys at my dealer were seasoned pros, not inexperienced here today good tomorrow types, like many dealers employ for these jobs.   I don't mind paying for a professional job.
    • Like others have said, they will all leak. Mainly at the corners.   I have owned several and the best has been my current one. Revolver x4
    • About 8 months after an alignment job by the dealer I started experiencing a pretty significant clunk in the front end on hard left hand turns usually parking lot speeds almost at lock.  Occasionally get the same on hard rights too.   Discovered that the lower control arm attachment bolts are TTY and only to be used for a single use. And then I found some evidence of a TSB that indicates you can over torque those fasteners to about 130 foot pounds.   Asked a local shop to investigate and they found 3 out of four bolts loose and retorqued.   I've ordered the MOOG    K100421 lower control arm bolt kit that is completely reusable and not TTY.    Is the 80 ft pounds a realistic number?  Anyone have experience with those bolts?
