hey all just looking for some advice. i have an 89 GMC 2500ld 4x4 with a 2" lift on it. motor is all stock but i want more bang for my buck. i am thinking about putting on a performance Throttle body but not sure how much that will add. an recomendations would be great.

next upgrade im doing is the headers i suggest the same for you then the intake manifold.But if you still have the stock cat i highly recommend you to get a high flow cat before headers

yeah i was thinking about doing the Exhaust Assembly and headers first. then i was debating on an intake.

Open element edelbrock on jegs for 23.bucks shipped to your door.BUT you should defiantly order a Fram extra guard air filter.Because the one that comes with the edelbrock is very small and has minimal air flow.Dont buy a cold air intake like half the ppl do its a huge waste of time on a truck like this

Well assuming that your truck has a 350, its rated factory at 210hp & 310 ft/lbs torque. If your looking for more towing power, you might want to put some vortec heads on it and just buy a conversion intake manifold. You cant use the factory manifold because the bolt pattern is completely differant. The heads alone will give you a 20-40hp increase. Its all about volumetric efficiency when your looking for power, and since your engine is stock, a throttle body may not do a whole lot, concidering the TBI motors had the worst flowing heads, but a cam will fix that too.

But if your your budget is tight, a good set of headers and a mild cam will give you good power. hope this helped. -Brad

Tuning a tbi is pretty hard considering that there isnt too many obd1 tuners out there i mean dont get me wrong there is some out there.And especially with these cams in the stock tbi motors a mild cam is a huge deference that will def need a tune.For vortec package out the door new is roughly 900 with cheap gaskets.Im searching junk yards for a smashed silverado or gmc c1500 with vortec heads/mani.
