Tranny Leak

Well, got a tranny leak, now i get to spend all day lookin for where its comin from. cause of course, the whole undercarrage is soaked so who knows. lol.

It starts where the dryness ends.... One thing I am thankfull for is not lifting mine, so I can fit into the new carwashes that blast the bottom pretty well. Start at the carwash and go from there, should be pretty easy to find. Don't rule out power steering hoses, those buggers sneak up on you and usually leak under pressure.

yeah, the steering feels fine and the fluid lvls are fine in the pwr steering. however ive seen a decrease in the tranny lvls so i know its that. i THINK its where the tranny and the xfer case meet up...but why would it be leaking there? ive gotta dig into it this weekend.

may i suggest brake cleaner and compressed air and then either a short roadtest or a looksee while running it up

FOUND IT!!! lol. now i just need to know how to fix it. haha.

 

edit: this ammount of leak is after an hour of finding it. (two cans of break cleaner later)

that is the t case adaptor leaking on the tranny end,

 

take it apart and inspect VERY CLOSELY as they can and will crack,

 

get a new adaptor if cracked and a new square seal on the tranny side and a gasket on the t case side ,,

 

do NOT remove the torsion bar crossmember to remove t case ----out a bit ,turn sideways and lower ,after trans crossmember is removed ,,dont even have to drain it ,but ive done a million lol....on a hoist .....lol

 

and be carefull !!

 

the bolts may be loose also ,,,,carfully inspect everything

for sure, the local pick a part is gunna be my friend when i get back. ill probly have to totaly refill the tranny by the time i get back. HAHA. oh well, ive got a buddy who is a natural born wrencher...case of beer and its fixed for sure!!!
