Finally Got My 03 Silverado Fixed.

After spending several hundred dollars and installing a Predator tuner on my 2003 Silverado I got my Check Engine light problem fixed. To start at the begining a year and a half ago my O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 wire harness fell down on the cat and melted the plug, I couldn't purchase a plug the only thing GM offered was a New complete harness, I went to several junk yards before I found one that would cut the plug end off of a harness, the one I got was from a truck that the harness was wiped out in a wreck. Anyway I soldered the new plug on my truck harness and bought a new O2 sensor at $149.85 + tax, drove it less than 20 miles and the check engine was back on. I took it to a repair shop spent $300.00 and before I got it home the light was back on. The mechanic told me when I called him back he had done all he could I would need to take it to a dealership. I called the nearest dealer to me and explained my problem and what had been done to correct the problem. The shop manager said he would have to replace the main harness you can't patch the harness! I read several threads and saw I was not the only one with this problem but no one said they had fixed the problem, most just removed the bulb in the dash, That didn't do anything for the loss in fuel savings. My truck dropped from 22mpg to 14mpg when this problem started, with the increase in fuel cost I set in to find out what was causing the trouble and found it this morning, repaired it and just got back from a 65 mile test drive, the light did not come back on and no codes in the ecm. The problem a 15amp fuse in the main wireing terminal box under the hood was the culprit. The fuse blew when the wire melted to the cat!! It was fuse #3.

Another day of driving the 03 and the check engine light is still off. I Think I got it right this time and the Predator did great at giving me a more firm shift in the trannie and it feels like she has about 25 more HP, and she don't shut down at 100 now she will get 120 with out cutting off. Lovin it!! Robert
