Trailer Weight And Leveling Kit

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just bought myself a 2008 silverado lt 4x4 and I'm looking to do the RC leveling kit.

Just one question holding me back. The most I tow is a double Jetski trailer weighing 2100lbs. Is that enough weight to make the back of the truck sag?

Don't have access to the trailer now to really check.

No one will be able to tell you. Too many varibles, besides tong weight sags the truck not overall weight.

Just get the kit and if you don't like it when towing add a larger block in the rear.

thats what i was thinking. Tounge weight though should be under 300lbs.

I put a 600-700 pound grizzly in the back of my truck. It has a 2" RC leveling kit. It sags 1.5-2" but doesn't really bother me, since I don't go very far.

Have a couple of friends (maybe three if they are small) stand on the rear bumper and see how much it sags. If you can, hook up the trailer and see how much it pulls the back end down. If its more then half an inch or so you are going to have the back lower then the front with the level kit on. I pulled one of U-Hauls big old car trailers with a ford Ranger on it and I want to say that nearly leveled the truck out depending on how we had the truck on the trailer. I don't have a level kit and my truck has the HD Trailer package.
