Replacement Mirror Questions

I would like to replace the passenger-side mirror due to a hair-line crack in the glass. I have a 2003 Suburban K1500 LS with power mirrors which are not heated nor do they have the puddle lamps, but found replacement sets on eBay with both those features, and even found some nice oversized towing-style mirrors. (Manual mirror-glass / heated, and power mirror-glass / heated; neither in this style have puddle lamps.)

I did find out that that the OEM heated mirrors are powered from the rear defroster, which my vehicle does have. So, is the 'heated mirror' capability in all mirror wiring harnesses, or only IF the vehicle came stock with heated mirrors originally?

Also, if I get mirrors similar in style to the ones that came stock, would the puddle lamps work on these replacement mirrors, or again, is there a different wiring harness than my standard OEM one for that feature to work?

I guess the main part of my question is: do all the Suburbans have the same mirror wiring harness, and the features you get are dependent on the actual mirror installed, or is there different mirror wiring harnesses for the different variations of features, depending if your original mirrors were powered, heated or puddle lamps?

Thank you-

Richard

I bought one of the mirrors for my truck off ebay and it was very simple to change. The one on my 03 sierra just popped off with a little pry and put the new one in place. I didn't realize I had heated mirrors on my truck till I removed it. I had already ordered a nonheated mirror though. I'd fork out the few dollars extra for the heated just in case. My truck had the rear window defrost on it. I just put a little electrical tape on the wires in my mirror till the next mailbox jumps out and gets it again. lol
