P0121

I have had the CEL on and off for the past month and know that it is the:

 

P0121 - Throttle Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

 

I stopped by the dealership and told them about the code and here is what I don't understand.

 

He said that this would not be covered under my warranty (5yr 100k) since it is dirty and it is considered routine maintenance. I have 57K miles and he said it was due for a cleaning at $118.00 and I need it done now... If this is covered why would they be charging for the service? Please let me know if he was blowing wind or if I should try again. If it does need to be cleaned and would cost me, than I would just do it myself.

they are full of it ,

 

get them to show you the routine maint guide with that stated or

 

go to a different dealer

They were full of it, but I ended up just pulling the TB and cleaning it.... Didn't have the time to take it somewhere else. Next dealership is quite a bit aways. Too bad the GMC dealership won't talk to me when I mention warranty since they are around the block. It was dirty before I cleaned it and I have not had the code come back on yet. The Idle was high but I drove it for a bit and now it's back to normal.
