Tahoe + 23' Deck = Doable?

I just picked up a '10 Tahoe with the 6 speed, 5.3, and the 3.08 rear end. My boat is a Chaparral 232 Sunesta DB. My owners manual says my 2wd Tahoe will tow 5400.

 

My Boat + Trailer is probably right at 5400 with fuel. I tow about 10-15 times a summer, but from my house to the lake is ~3 miles each way. I'm coming from a 2008 Tundra 5.7 that pulled it like there was nothing attached.

 

I drive 98% not towing, so I opted for what would get the mileage on the fwy. For these short trips should I be okay? Would it be advisable to turn on Tow Mode and use the manual shifter to keep it in 1,2,3 only?

3 miles, forget about and just tow it. Put it in tow mode and hit the road. If you find it shifting to much or hunting for the right gear then manual downshift it a gear.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.

    • Wouldn't swapping out the original AFM/DFM parts for a complete Delete Kit be the best route to go if one could afford to go that route?
