evil dealers and truck title

my dad bought his 97 2500 back in july. pay for with cash. so he doesnt owe any money. now the DMV has told us the dealer had 30 days to turn it in or whatever or file for an extension. so the question is: we dont have a title for the truck but paid the dealer something around 17k after taxes and crap. what are our options?

can we get our money back? sue them screwing us on the title? wait another 4-5 months to see if we get a title?

any ideas would be useful.

it is the dealers responsibility to get u a clean title, if they cannot u *could* get your money back but that sounds like a big hairy mess in court

Call the dealer right away and see if you can get an explaination. Just like anyother company they probably misplaced the paper work or they're just slow? Give um a chance first.

we called the dealer and "no one" was around that would help us so my dad left a msg with the lady and said that he needs to hear from them no later then weds. and we have some complain papers from the DMV so we're filling those out too. we may also drive down and pay them a visit.

we went to the Mitsubishi lot, which is owned by the local dodge dealer. so its not some no name place. the truck actually came off of dodge's trade in lot thing in the back. the sales guy walked us across the street to look.

If its a reputable place I would cut a little slack....one of my sons bought a new vehicle about a month ago, paid by check. The next week the dealer called him and said thy had no record of him ever paying!!!! It was cleared up, someone just screwed up the paperwork...I bet its the same thing with yours...

a little slack.. we've given them more then a little. DMV says they should have at least filed for something within 30 days.. its well past that...

I think you should do what you mentioned...strongly but nicely give them until Wednesday to do something.....the whole entire deal probably dropped off the back of someones desk....thats what happened to my son..
