Tranny Problem With 03 Sierra Ext Cab

Here is the problem my Brother in law is having. He has an 03 sierra ext cab z71 with 5.3L and 3:73 gears, it only has 50K miles on it. Once truck gets warm and rpms are with the 1100 to 1500 range truck shakes and or vibrates. If he gets on it it is smooth. No codes are being thrown. He took to a gmc dealer and they told him they suspect the torque convertor or lockup switch? Either way guess its going to be an expensive repair. Any thought or suggestions? He is afriad of having them do the work and not fix problem.....Thanks

Sounds just like mine, 04 sierra 5.3 4:10s 162k my TC just went. Exactly the same as you are describing. Was told by shop 7.25hrs to R+R labour. Mine was 1800 bones. Ending up throwing shavings through tranny and messin up valves till it wouldnt move unless revved up to 2000 rpms. Good luck
