txab Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Whats the best oil to use on a 4.8 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500?? Any brand name 5w-30 oil will work just fine. You can run conventional or synthetic. Your choice. Whichever one fits your pocketbook. You'll get all kinds of recommendations on here, 'cause everyone has their favorite. Just pick one and go with it. Choose a quality filter, not the cheapest. Change the oil at whatever interval you feel comfortable with. The Oil Life monitor is a good gauge to go by in my opinion and based on my oil testing. Depending on how you drive you can easily run longer than 3000 miles between changes with today's engines. Many run about 4500-5000 miles between changes. You can have your oil tested to prove to yourself what a good interval for your truck would be. Oil choices, in no particular order.... Quaker State Pennzoil Amsoil Mobil1 Royal Purple Valvoline Castrol Now everyone else will chime in with their thoughts and preferences.....
05GMCZ71 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Now a days the quality of what we would consider "Dyno" oil from the major brands with the right ratings is just about as good of quality as that of the Synthetics.
SouthCo Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Now a days the quality of what we would consider "Dyno" oil from the major brands with the right ratings is just about as good of quality as that of the Synthetics. Synthetic oil has been and continues to be superior to "Dino" oil (is what I think you meant).
