2000 Sierra Transfer Case

So I blew the transfer case in my 2000 Sierra on the weekend, trying to find out which kind I have so I can replace it, because I've been told anything from a 241, 261, 263 or 271... I have a 5.3 with a 4L60E, and the Autotrac transfer case.

I have an 02 with the 5.3 and 4L60E also and want to say I had to put a new 261 in mine. I'll try to find the paper work from where I had it done and confirm it.

a 2000 Autotrak should have a NP 246, but the easiest way is to crawl under and look for a round ID tag about 2" in diameter that will identify the model.

I looked up the part number on mine and its the 246. the part number just for reference is 24228410. Hope this was of some help
