Greetings,

Currently I'm driving a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD 5.5 liter. It's a nice truck with only 66,000 miles, but now it's time to move up to a 2500 to haul toys. So I'm looking for a site that offers free VIN decoding and history. The two sites referenced in another part of this forum don't appear to offer truck histories. Anyone know where I can get free truck ownership and repair histories?

You have to take the reporting agencys with a grain of salt. If a vehicle was repaired at an independant shop whether it's body or mechanical it will probably never show up on the report, usually only dealer repairs. It's best to have it checked out by a professional if you find one you're really serious about.

Welcome to the site man. If you want a breakdown of your options, take your VIN to the dealer and ask them for a build sheet. If you want a history of the vehicle, take the VIN to the registry and ask for a vehicle history.
