toaster72 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The 4.8L in my 2006 K1500 took a puke after the relief valve in the oil pump failed. I'm considering putting a 5.3L in and I'm trying to figure out if there is a certain one I need to use and if the intake/accessory mounts/ or pcm need to be changed.
Stevens03 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Search function is your friend, but Everything from the 4.8L will bolt up to the 5.3L and Welcome
nickvrebel Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 direct swap. In fact when you pull the 4.8L you will see "4.8/5.3" stamped on the block, it's because the block is identical (different piston design and stroke, same diameter). you can get away with running the PCM as is, but it will run better if you have the PCM custom tuned.
