Installing Infinity 605C's

I have a 2002 Silverado Ext Cab, I am installing all new speakers. (Infinity 605C's) in front And Infinity 4x6's (4652?) in back.

I've been reading old posts trying to make sure I don't screw something up.This is the first new fullsize truck I've ever had and I really want this to look and sound good.

My problem is- this is my first attempt at speaker installation. The tweeters seem like they'll be no problem (Use a hole saw on existing mount, should look great)

The 6-1/2's however look like there will be a gap between the front of the speaker and the hole in the interior door panel? I notice that the factory speakers have a foam ring on the front to fill in this gap. Can I buy this stuff to fill that in? Also the infinity's look to be slightly larger than the factory speakers and if pressed against the door panel the rubber part around the edge of the infinty speaker hits the hole in the door panel. Will this cause a sound problem?

Next, Where do I put the crossover? I put one to the right of door handle on the door frame (Passenger side) on the interior side of the plastic liner in the door. Dont know if this is a good idea or not? (thats all I've gotten done so far) I read a post that said under dash? Also do you put leads on wire that you cut or wire straight to crossover ???

one last thing. Do you put Dynamat on inside of door frame behind door panel or against outside body? Is there a cheaper alternative? That stuff is expensive.

I think the pearl color of the infinitys will look pretty cool thru the factory covers. :D

Thanks in advance for any help! Great site, You guys have given me some good ideas for mods.

Thanks, COZWV

Its not recommended to put the xovers in the doors. Constant closing (slamming) may not only knock them loose to rattle, but also I've seen internal damage too.

Means another wire through the door jamb grommet.

Hole saw through the factory tweeter works great.  I didn't like the color showing through on my woofer so I covered it in black mesh from hobby store. (like panty hose material) sound not affected. Not sure on the gap or hitting the door panel. Don't remember that being a problem on mine.

I wish i had pics, but i placed the driver side xover right onto the fuse box, which is right above the parking brake.

I used a good velcro and it hasnt budged since i placed it there.

The pass side, i mounted with a couple screws to the ac/vent ducting right behind the glove box.

I used the adapter rings that came with the speakers.  I had to drill some new mounting holes in door, but no big problem.  I ended up mounting my crossovers behind the door panels (in the lower left for passenger and lower right for driver side as you look at the panel) with 3M VHB double sided foam tape.  You will be pleased with the sound of the Infinitiy seperates :thumb:

Well so far I've mounted the passenger side speakers. Put the X-Over on the door panel under the arm rest with double sided tape. Mounted both rear speakers.

Hole drilled the factory tweeter to fit the new infinity tweeter. Looks sweet!

Used factory cover to mount 6-1/2 in door. smoothed out back of door panel as it hits speaker grill (infinity grill) and painted it black. I have the infinity grill under the factory grill. I also took a dremel and cut a notch out of the door panel for the infinity hologram logo on the infinity speaker grill. REALLY PLEASED with how that looks.

Doesn't seem to be much bass though? Only got one side done so far. If I would put in a base (Bazooka? or Thunderform?) would I have to have an amp? I seen an amped Bazooka at Circut City, I dont need a ton of sound just good sound! also would I have to run a bunch of wires?

Thanks, COZ :D
