18" Or 20" Wheels/bfg Rugged Terrain Or Cooper Zeon

Hey all, I'm trying to decide what wheel/tire combination I should buy for my '11 Silverado. CCSB Z71. My OE size is P265/65R18. I want to stay close, if not identical, to the stock size.

I was dead set on a set of 265/65 BFG Rugged Terrains on a set of 18x9s. I had ruled out the Cooper Zeon LTZs due to the sizes they're offered in, but tonight I found sizes listed on treadepot.com that aren't listed on Cooper's website.

So, I'm trying to decide between 3 combinations.

1- 265/65R18 BFG Rugged Terrains

2- 285/60R18 Cooper Zeons

3- 275/55R20 Cooper Zeons

I put the numbers into a size calculator, and the 285/60R18s are a little smaller in diameter than the 265/65s, but of course they're 20mm wider. Is that extra 20mm going to cause some rubbing?

275/55R20 is another OE option, so I don't imagine those would cause any problems.

So, any input?

I would choose the 285 since you are putting them on a wider wheel. Skinny tires on 9" wheels look horrible to me since they look ballon.

Agreed, go with a wider tire or find a skinnier wheel because a 265 will not go on an 18x9 wheel comfortably at all. As for the kind of tire, I would go with the zeons.

Also, do you have a leveling kit, will you be installing one, or are you staying stock? This will limit your tire choices down substantially depending on your decision.

Good luck!

I plan to keep the height stock for now. I'm leaning toward the 285/60R18 Zeons. The wheels I'm looking into are 18x9 Helo He835, and they have a +18 offset. I'm thinking since the stock offset is closer to +30 (I think?) with 265s, I might have trouble with the 285s on a +18 wheel? Should I be looking for a wheel that has an offset closer to 0?

One more thing. I like how Tire Rack will mount/balance/install TPMS sensors when you buy a wheel/tire package, but they don't offer Cooper tires. Is there a website that offers the same services and sells Cooper tires? It'd just be nice to be able to order everything together so when it comes, all I have to do is bolt it on my truck.

Thanks guys.
